Advance Auto Parts is continuing its plan to shutter hundreds of stores and four distribution centers in 2025, the company said in a Wednesday earnings call after initially announcing the closures in November 2024.

How many stores are in Mississippi? About 20% of stores in the Magnolia State have closed already, and five locations are currently listed for sale. Here’s what we know.

In releasing its fourth-quarter report Wednesday, the company reiterated its plans to close approximately 500 corporate stores, 200 independent locations and four distribution centers by mid-2025 as part of a “restructuring plan” initially laid out in 2024.

“During 2024, we initiated transformative actions to reposition Advance for long-term success and value creation,” said Shane O’Kelly, president and chief executive officer, in a news release Wednesday.

The company said it hopes to improve business performance by focusing on “core retail improvements” with hopes of achieving “consistent profitable growth.”

The plan includes the consolidation of distribution centers to operate 12 large facilities by the end of 2026, the opening of 60 market hub locations by mid-2027, and speeding up the pace of new store openings, according to the news release.

Advance Auto Parts’ stock had plummeted by roughly 18% Wednesday afternoon as investors reacted to the company’s 2025 sales guidance, The Motley Fool reported.

Multiple chain sales and store closures have affected Mississippi shoppers in recent months, including including Joann, Big Lots, Bargain Hunt and Party City. Other chains shuttering some stores include JCPenney, Kohl’s and Macy’s.
