The Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts has a full slate of outstanding events to make everyone’s holiday season complete.
The season begins with Michael Martin Murphey’s “Cowboy Christmas,” returning to Kerrville for two performances at the Cailloux Theater this weekend.
Murphey’s famous show is a mix of story-telling, cowboy poetry, and lots of music – both traditional and contemporary – that relates the tale of the first Christmas and the angels bringing the news to the local shepherds.
Performances are Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $50.
The Symphony of the Hills’ annual holiday concert is dubbed “Glory, Hallelujah.” It will feature music to celebrate many traditions, plus the Grand Symphony Chorus and a Christmas sing-along.
Showtime is Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at just $34.
Playhouse 2000 opens a play that puts a fun spin on a Christmas tradition on Dec. 6. “A Sherlock Carol” combines the characters from Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with the world of Sherlock Holmes to create a fascinating and uplifting mystery story.
The show runs Dec. 6-15 in the VK Garage Theater. General Admission tickets are $24 for adults, $15 for students and children. A special, “Pay What You Can” performance is offered on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
The Hill Country Youth Orchestras’ annual Winter Concert will be offered free to the public on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m.
Fort Worth’s Ballet Frontier returns to the Cailloux Theater to present “The Nutcracker Ballet” on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. Thanks to the sponsorship of EdwardJones agents Zach Riffet, Kendall Davison, and Dale Boothman along with Kerr County Abstract, the show has ticket prices as low as $5 for children.
The season will wrap with First United Methodist Church’s annual free Christmas celebration in the Cailloux Theater on Friday, Dec. 20.
