Dally in the Alley Returns to Detroit for 2025

Detroit’s Dally in the Alley is back for 2025 on Saturday, Sept. 6 with music, art, eats, beer, local vendors, and a children’s fair. Returning to the historic Cass Corridor for its 46th year, the one-day celebration will fill the streets with music, food, artwork, and culture — honoring Detroit’s creative community and life in the city.

This year’s Dally will include five stages of live music and DJs, keeping crowds entertained with tunes spanning across genres. Visitors can expect to hear rock, funk, hip hop, and Detroit techno with performances by Sheefy McFly, Oliver Dollar & ADMN featuring APROPOS, Loren, JonPaul Wallace, Motorcity ERA, Carmel Liburdi, and more.

The event will also feature new murals and street art from local artists, like Detroit illustrator, muralist, and educator Matt “Emskript” Thornton.

The official 2025 Dally Poster was designed by another Detroit artist, Angie Coe. The poster will be available for purchase as a limited-edition print throughout the day.

“Dally was always about Detroit — its artists, musicians, and makers,” said Adriel Thorton, spokesperson and chair of the North Cass Community Union, the nonprofit that organizes the festival, in a press release. “This year’s mural and poster are beautiful examples of the creative energy that makes the Dally so special.”

The main community stage lineup will feature guided yoga, the Dally Dog Show, button making, and a drag performance. Visitors can enjoy a curated marketplace full of local vendors and Detroit-based food and drink from Sweet & Sticky, Peoples Pierogi, Conchy’s Empanadas, and more.

Since 1977, Dally in the Alley has blossomed from a small neighborhood block party into a beloved city tradition. The event attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year to support local artists and businesses, all while maintaining its original, volunteer-powered grassroots.

For those interested in learning more, the event’s sponsor, North Cass Community Union, has an official documentary, Dally On!, which can be streamed for free online. The documentary follows a group of neighborhood residents up against a city hall threatening art in the city, with community protest resulting in a block party.

The 2025 Dally in the Alley will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Detroit’s Cass Corridor neighborhood between Forest, Hancock, Second, and Third. Admission is free.
