MMAM: $1 admission at Seasonal Saturday Feb. 14 | Arts & Entertainment
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) invites the community to its next Seasonal Saturday on February 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This quarterly arts access program offers $1 admission and a full day of activities designed to make art engaging, welcoming, and fun for visitors of all ages. Inspired by Valentine’s Day, the theme of the Winter Seasonal Saturday is For the Love of the Arts.
Throughout the day, guests can explore MMAM with guided tours, hands-on art-making, live music, and storytelling that celebrate creativity and connection. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., visitors are invited to meet the artwork of Robert Gonzalez in the new exhibition, “Mystic Waters.” Families and individuals can visit the Oberton Education Room anytime from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to try monoprinting with a gel printing plate and an array of textured materials. For those who prefer a quieter space, art-making will open early at 9:30 a.m. Please note other activities will open at 10 a.m.
Fiber artist Lauren Oland will demonstrate free-form weaving on her mobile Saori loom in the atrium of the museum from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Using remnant yarn, hand-spun art yarn, and yarn from regional farms, Oland weaves colorful cloth in her own signature zero-waste creative process. At 2:30 p.m., guests can experience the advancement of “The Grand Panorama of a Whaling Voyage ‘Round the World,” the longest painting in the United States.
Live music will fill the galleries throughout the day, first from Nomalala (vocals, guitar) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and by Joel Zabel (violin) from 3 to 4 p.m. Visitors can also join guided tours, including MMAM Highlights Tours at 10:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.; Curator’s Tours at 11:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.; and a Director’s Tour at 1:15 p.m. Each 30-minute tour begins in the atrium and includes assistive listening devices for accessibility.
Additional family-friendly activities include Bingo Overboard, a gallery scavenger hunt with prizes for all participants, available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spanish and Hmong interpretation will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Project FINE, and free transportation to and from
the museum will be provided by Winona Area Transit Service’s Dial-A-Ride. Guests may call 507-454-6666 in advance to schedule a ride; MMAM will cover all fares upon arrival and return.
Guests are invited to learn more about the work of River Arts Alliance, our Seasonal Saturday community partner, throughout the day. Museum galleries remain open until 5 p.m. Seasonal Saturday invites everyone, whether longtime art lovers or first-time visitors, to connect, create, and discover that art truly is for everyone.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is located at 800 Riverview Drive, Winona, MN 55987. For a complete schedule and more information, visit mmam.org/seasonal-saturdays.
